MiArt! 2008 was held in Milan, Italy in April 2008. Gary Marotta Fine Art made the trip to display recent artwork from Cuban-born artist Manuel Pardo. The concept was titled “Quinceanera” which in Latin American culture refers to the celebration of a young woman’s fifteenth birthday. The artist created 15 girls; each is a full-body portrait of a young girl, composed within a custom pink frame. Each girl is drawn with archival pink jellyroll pens on hand-made paper. The overall effect is a bold statement of femininity, especially when viewed as a group.
